Dominica, a small island nation in the Caribbean, has a population of about 73,000 people. Its people are called Dominicans (distinct from those of the Dominican Republic). Known as the “Nature Island of the Caribbean,” Dominica is rich in rainforests, waterfalls, hot springs, and volcanic landscapes. English is the official language, and a French-based Creole is also widely spoken. The population is mainly of African descent, with a small Indigenous Kalinago community. Dominican culture emphasizes family, hospitality, and a strong connection to nature. Christianity is the dominant religion, and traditional music, dance, and festivals like Carnival and Independence Day are important cultural events.
